Billie Eilish once experienced a rapid loss of 100,000 followers, all within just one hour, after she posted a particular photo on Instagram.
At 22 years old, Billie participated in a ‘post a picture’ challenge on social media in 2020. However, the content of the image she posted surprised many of her followers.
Billie first gained fame at the age of 14 with her debut single ‘Ocean Eyes’, which was written and produced by her brother, Finneas O’Connell.
Her debut album, When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?, soared to the top of the charts in both the US and UK, becoming one of the best-selling albums of 2019.
Billie currently boasts 119 million followers on Instagram, but a few years back, she saw a sudden drop when tens of thousands unfollowed her within an hour.
This drop occurred after she posted a drawing that she was proud of, fulfilling a request from a fan.
The drawing featured various nude figures and some snakes.
“These probably lol I love boobs,” she captioned the post.
Even though the drawing was just a depiction of the naked female form, it sparked significant backlash, leading about 100,000 of her followers to unfollow her.
A fan quickly noticed the decline in Billie’s Instagram followers and posted about it online.
Billie herself seemed to notice the uproar as she commented on the incident in an Instagram Story, writing: “LMFAOOO y’all babies smh.”
Billie has been quite transparent about her interests. She recently spoke candidly about her ‘favourite subject matter’ in an interview.
When asked how she likes to unwind, the pop star bluntly responded: “Sex.”
In her discussion with Rolling Stone, Eilish elaborated: “I basically talk about sex any time I possibly can. That’s literally my favorite topic.”
“My experience as a woman has been that it’s seen in such a weird way.”
She also shared a very explicit detail about how she enjoys masturbating in front of a mirror, adding: “Partly because it’s hot, but it also makes me have such a raw, deep connection to myself and my body, and have a love for my body that I have not really ever had.”
“I got to say, looking at yourself in the mirror and thinking ‘I look really good right now’ is so helpful.”
“I have learned that looking at myself and watching myself feel pleasure has been an extreme help in loving myself and accepting myself, and feeling empowered and comfortable.”
