When the going gets tough, we learn how much family really matters. Without them, we’re left relying on the kindness of strangers, a predicament few would want to be in. But that’s what happens to pets every day after their families abandon them, failing to recognize their worth and place as family members. Here’s an example out of Crystal Lake, Illinois, with two adorable cat brothers, Max and Prince.
We have no doubt some lucky family out there will soon have two new purrmanent members!
Woman Moves to Florida, Leaves Behind Two Family Members
As Floridians, we know the appeal of the sun and surf. And so did a woman who had two cute kitties, Max and Prince. Max is the cutest orange and white tabby, and Prince is his dapper black and white brother.
Their mama made the decision to leave behind Illinois for Florida in June. But instead of taking her beloved family members with her, she left them behind with her parents. Perhaps, amidst the chaos of a big move, she truly believed she would return for them one day. Regrettably, her parents were not as fond of the kitties as she was.
While the brothers were indoor cats, their extended family put them outside in bad weather, a dangerous prospect for any indoor house cat. Left for even a moment, things can become life-threatening very fast.
“Her parents began to let these indoor-only boys outside even in the rain. The boys just cried to get back into the house,” explained Purrfect Cat Rescue Inc.
One day, Max and Prince’s mom called the rescue, asking if they could shelter them for two weeks. After that, she said she would travel back to Illinois for them. Once again, she didn’t come through for two furry family members.
“Needless to say, Mom never came to get them,” the rescuers said.
As a result, they bore the responsibility for the brothers during prime kitten season. During this time of year, it’s never easy to find a place and resources for more rescues.
Max and Prince Deserve a Loving Family
Although most folks tend to adopt the cute whipper snapper kittens, Max and Prince are an ideal adult bonded pair. They truly deserve a spotlight, an example of why adopting adult cats can be the best idea of all.
The rescue describes them as “two of the sweetest bonded brothers around.” So they have high hopes they find a family that really deserves them, one that will never let them go again.
The Warmth of the Sunshine Can’t Compare
When they first arrived at the rescue, the brothers were understandably distraught. Where had their Mom gone? Has she discovered the warmth of the sunshine can’t compare with the warmth of a cat’s love?
Thankfully, the brothers soon warmed up and showed their true purrsonalities, as they will for their new family. As a duo which has been through so much, they must stay together forever and need a home without other cats.
“We were very confused the first few days, but now we are warming up. (I take a little longer to adjust to new situations, but give me a couple of days and I will be your best friend!) We are talkative boys, and we’ll let you know that we missed you (and tell you ALL about our day). We enjoy lots of pets, and cuddling up on your chest.”
