Kitten season is year round in Florida, but it does ramp up in the summertime. During the hot, hot, hot months, kittens pop up all over the place, including many a kitten found inside a car engine! More kittens need rescue daily, and some almost don’t seem real, like fluffy cartoons come to life.
Let’s take a moment to meet two such adorable kittens whose lives have been forever changed by the kindness of real-life heroes.
Saving Kittens in Coral Springs, Florida
Just like any other part of the Sunshine State, Coral Springs is used to its fair share of kittens hiding amidst tropical foliage. But what sets this area apart is its many heroes, such as Officer Gretchen Byrne, fondly known as ‘Cat Cop,’ and the dedicated Humane Unit Officers who work tirelessly to protect and care for animals.
“Love stopping by the CSPD Humane Unit to see what cuties have been booked kitten season is in full effect,” shared
Officer Byrne has been helping care for numerous kittens of late in her Kitten Academy (BKA). Such kittens have hit the jackpot after narrowly avoiding disaster on the streets. And they’re always adorable. But at least two of them could be cartoon kittens.
Kitten Looks Like Classic Cartoons
Recently, Byrne took in six kittens whose stories may have ended abruptly if not for her.
“These death row 6 survivors are what I call a variety pack.”
Among the variety pack is one that’s just a little different!
Classic Cartoons From the 50s
To Byrne, it was the scraggly, black-and-white fellow who reminded her of classic cartoons: Looney Tunes ‘Marc Antony and the Kitten,’ a tiny black and white kitten tenderly cared for by a burly bulldog. Later, the kitten was called ‘Pussyfoot.’
“He reminds me of that old cartoon of Marc Anthony and the kitten,” Byrne shared.

A Meme Waiting to Happen?
In updates, we see the cartoon kitten is looking more and more like a meme waiting to happen! He looks much like we all feel in the morning sometimes, a grumpy kitten. Even so, he’s a favorite of his foster uncle, Pachanga.
“PACHANGA is our employee of the month . Not a hard decision since the rest are a bunch of lazy bums.”
A closeup shows the viral meme waiting to happen. Haven’t we all felt like this recently?
“I’m sorry but he needs to be the next viral kitten ,” Byrne shared.
“He is a 10-year-old cat trapped in a kitten’s body. ,” said Lori K.
“He definitely needs to be the next Grumpy Cat! ,” said Lyn M.
Batcat Rises in Foster Care
The as-yet-unnamed cartoon kitten is attending Byrne’s Kitten Academy with another comic character: Batcat. He is another very lucky young one saved from Animal Control only to rise like a masked avenger!
“From the shadows of animal control and within minutes of death row a masked hero has risen. Batcat ”
