One of the most successful actors of the modern era, Paulson, 49, has received multiple honors throughout her career, including a Tony Award, a Golden Globe, and a Primetime Emmy Award.
She starred in Nurse Ratched, Game Change, and Impeachment: American Crime Story, but her most well-known role was in the Ryan Murphy-created series American Horror Story.
Apart from her profession, Paulson has shared details about her relationship and the reactions she’s received.
Numerous fans have expressed their support for the duo, with one commenting, “Holland is hilarious, and I think spending your life with someone funny is a great way to live! Good on you ladies.”
A second adds: “Good luck to them. They look happy! Maybe just leave them alone.”
“If that’s what it takes to make it work and have a long healthy relationship who are we to judge,” someone else comments.
In 2015, Paulson started dating 81-year-old Holland Taylor, the star of Two and a Half Men.
According to People magazine, Taylor “slid into her DMs” after they had followed one another on X, the previous Twitter platform.
Even though they had both been seeing other individuals at the time, the two had actually met ten years before.
Their relationship became known when Taylor posted a picture of Paulson on X with the comment, “When captions fail…”
To the satisfaction of their followers, Paulson and Taylor have persisted in being transparent about their relationship on social media and in interviews.
Paulson called Taylor “the most exquisitely beautiful woman” she had ever seen in an interview with The New York Times.
She has also revealed what she believes to be the key to their success in a relationship: their capacity to just be with one another.
The Bird Box star told Page Six: “We each follow our own path so we’re not exactly the same. We do some things separately so everyone gets to be true to what they believe.”
“She’s much more social, and I like a little bit of alone time, so I have that. She spends some time with friends and not with me, so it’s a good balance.”
Paulson has talked about their age difference and how it leads to trolling on social media in interviews.
The 49-year-old claimed to The Guardian that she tried her best to ignore the “horrifying” and “cruel” texts she received regarding their connection.
“If it allows for more freedom, in terms of the way people think about what’s possible for them, then I’m all for the fandom of it and the excitement around it and the interest in it,” she said to the publication.
“What I don’t love, which is sort of a consequence of it being such public knowledge, is that there is a discussion about it at all.”
“Believe me, there have been plenty of young people on the internet who have tweeted horrifying things to me about it, and who don’t support it, and who are so cruel. So it’s just a bit of a dance. But one I try to not let into my brain too often.”
She went on to contrast the responses to the 25-year age gap between Michael Douglas and Catherine-Zeta Jones and their relationship.
“I don’t remember people going nuts about Michael Douglas and Catherine-Zeta Jones, in terms of their age difference,” Paulson remarked. “I think people are fascinated by it because it’s so not typical.”
Paulson and Taylor are ignoring the critics as they continue to post loving photos of each other. Most recently, the AHS actress posted a sweet birthday message to her lover.
She captioned an Instagram post: “My phone made this. And I like it. Happy Birthday to my one and only love.”
“You are, quite simply- my world. I love you. @hollandvtaylor (don’t be mad about the second to last picture, I didn’t know how to take it out, plus there are pictures of me with no eyebrows, so-).”
